We are writing with a quick May update as follows;
AGM
The AGM is on this Saturday at St George Leagues
Club at 6:30pm for a 7:00pm start. At the AGM we
will provide an update about the building works
and voting on moving from a co-operative to company
structure. It would be great to see you there!
Building works
We are pleased to advise that at this stage, the
building works are on track to finish by the end
of next week (29 May) at both lodges.
Working Bee
Next weekend, 29 – 31 May, we will be holding
a working bee at both lodges. If you think you could

Snow
The snow forecasts have been promising so far and
Perisher has been upgrading their snow making facilities.

June Long weekend
The Board has decided to offer a 25% booking discount
on all bookings at the Jindabyne Lodge over the
June Long weekend. Being the first weekend of the
season, lots of activity is planned in the mountains
including The Snowy Mountains of Music Festival

Snow Country Ski Club Members,
This is the first in what will be a regular email
update outlining the activities of the Snow Country
Ski Club Co-operative Ltd (SCSC). This email will
replace the existing newsletter that has faithfully
been produced over the last few years. If you do
not wish to receive this email please reply to this
email with the word “UNSUBSCRIBE”. This
email will be posted to those members who do not
have access to email. Alternatively, if you have
received this by post and wish to obtain it by email
in the future, please email news@snowcountry.com.au.
BOARD
Over the last six months the board has been through
a significant period of change. Steve Matthews has
resigned from the board. Steve has been on the board
from the early 1990’s and has served as the
president for the club for many years. We are enormously
thankful for his terrific contribution to the club
over so many years. Steve has provided strong leadership
to the club and we will miss his input to the board.
We are thankful that Steve is taking an active role
in the work parties which are so essential to the
success of the club. If you get the opportunity,
please take the time to thank Steve personally for
his contribution.
David Carr, Clif Felton and Don Ferguson have all
come onto the board as temporary members until the
next AGM.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM)
This year’s AGM, held on Saturday 2 May 2009
from 7pm at the St George Leagues Club, promises
to be “exciting” as we move forward
into 2009. At the meeting we will be outlining the
building works that are occurring as well as the
many other improvements that the Club has made over
the last 12 months.
Also, a special resolution will be presented by
Clif Felton as follows;
NOTICE OF MOTION; To transform the administration
of the Snow Country Ski Club Co-operative Limited,
a non trading share co-operative into a Corporate
Structure to be governed under the rules and regulations
of the Australian Securities & Investments Commission."
Details of this resolution and the AGM in general
will be sent out shortly.
A nomination form for capable people who are willing
and able to serve on the board has been attached
to this email.
BUILDING CHANGES
The Board has been working hard to make both the
Jindabyne “Lake Lodge” and the Smiggins
Holes Lodge compliant with fire regulations. Both
Lodges were compliant with regulations when originally
built but the standards have changed and upgrades
need to be made to both lodges. In order to achieve
these changes, a significant no. of changes will
occur over the upcoming months.
The board has appointed a builder
for the Jindabyne and Smiggins works. We will keep
you advised of these changes.
We would like to thank George Gaucci and Berry Campbell
for both undertaking works at the Smiggins Holes
lodge (painting and decking works) through their
respective firms at cost price. This work is very
important to the upkeep of the lodge and you will
be immediately struck by the difference to the building
when you visit it next.
BOOKINGS AT JINDABYNE
In order to carry out the building works at Jindabyne,
the Lake Lodge will be generally be closed from
5 March 2009 until the beginning of June. We apologise
for this inconvenience but hope you will appreciate
our need to urgently upgrade the lodge.
Also of note is that the board has decided to revert
to the old booking scheme of 2, 5 or 7 day bookings
with arrival departure dates on Fridays and Sundays.
We are also reverting to the old system of paying
for 4 days and getting 5 days of accommodation.
This decision has been made in order to more effectively
to manage the lodge and also to hopefully develop
more of a community feel at the lodge.
LODGE BOOKING OFFICERS
After 16 years of wonderful service as the Jindabyne
Booking Officer, Gill Adrian has finally handed
over the reigns. The board is enormously grateful
to Gill Adrian for her many years of dedicated and
hard work over many years.
The new booking officer, is Rowena (or “Ro”)
Boyd. Ro works as a nurse and occasionally does
night shifts so she may not be able to respond to
your enquiry immediately. To ensure your booking
please allow plenty of time to contact her with
your enquiry. Ro’s contact no. and fax will
be 1300 053 208.
We are most appreciative and happy to advise that
Lesley Matthews continues to serve as the Smiggins
Holes Lodge booking officer. Lesley’s contact
no. remains (02) 4228 6460.
JUNIOR TRAINING PROGRAM
An application and policy document for the Junior
Training Program has been attached to this email
for all those who are interested. Applications close
27 February 2009.
NEWS
It’s all round congratulations to the Holowinski
family with;
• Julie Holowinski and Kenny Raggett announced
their engagement in August 2008. Kenny popped the
question to Julie on the Telemark lift at Perisher.
• Adele and Shannon Fraser announced the arrival
of their son Cooper John Fraser on the 10th December
2008 in Chiba, Japan.
• Justin and Dalya Holowinski announce the
arrival of their son Alexander Edward on the 13th
August 2008.
• Cesia and George enjoyed a four week holiday
in Japan which involved babysitting, sightseeing,
skiing, visiting the Sapporo Ice Festival and introducing
their new grandsons to the snow.
